Let’s get this straight right away—I have WAY too many book boyfriends to properly give them all credit. They’ve kept me up at nights, ignited my imagination, made me scream and cry and swoon, sometimes all in the same page. I sometimes have to question my loyalty because I adore them all, and choosing only a handful feels like betrayal. Nevertheless! I’ve chosen ten that are especially special to me. Maybe you know some of them…
Jon Snow – George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series
It’s impossible not to root for an honorable man who’s an outcast due to no fault of his own. Jon’s brooding, a bastard who puts the people he loves first, and while his future and true identity are yet to be determined, he’s the legendary hero every fantasy-loving girl dreams of.
Zachary Bronson – Where Dreams Begin by Lisa Kleypas
Zachary is my very first romance book boyfriend, the bad boy determined to show up a society that sneers at him, who breaks all the rules and wants the one woman who is completely out of his reach…until he manipulates a way to put her in his reach. Gotta love a man who will do whatever it takes to win the heart of his reluctant girl.
Lydon v’al Endrian – Wonderfully Wicked by C.J. Burright – hey! That’s me!
Of course, when Lydon formed in my swirling imagination, he automatically contained a few of my favorite book boyfriend elements. I’m a sucker for the antihero, so it’s no surprise Lydon isn’t typical hero material. He’s secretive, brooding, loves to tease, and he’s got some major baggage to work through, but who doesn’t? His love for Kalila is fierce and he isn’t above a bit of manipulation to get his girl. *Shh, don’t tell Daxen from Beautifully Burned that I chose Lydon over him*
James Alexander Malcolm Fraser – The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon
Kilt, sword, sense of humor, Scottish accent, sweetly romantic – what’s not to love?
Kylar Stern – Brent Weeks’s Night Angel trilogy
I freakin’ love this boy! He pulled himself out of his orphan childhood and became the world’s greatest assassin. There were so many times I just wanted to squeeze him to pieces. He’s damaged and loyal and so thirsty for love…when he finally finds it, it’s a big, resounding YES!
Lucivar Yaslana – Anne Bishop’s Black Jewel series
The Black Jewel series is one of my all-time favorite series, and if you like dark fantasy, I definitely recommend it, especially to meet Lucivar Yaslana. He’s bad, he’s powerful, and he doesn’t take crap from anyone. Plus, he has wings, so yeah. Wings. Sigh.
Reyes Alexander Farrow – Darynda Jones’s First Grave series
I’ve only recently started this series, so I’m only on book two, but holy Son of Satan! Reyes is a little scary, beyond sexy, and will do anything (including kill) to keep his reason for living (aka reaper Charlie) safe.
Jericho Barrons – Karen Moning’s Fever series
Brooding, secretive, manipulative, sexy and scary = Jericho Barrons. And tattoos, not to mention nine lives or something. I’m still not really sure what he is, but he’s awesome.
Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court – Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series
Gah! I loved Rhysand from the first moment and knew, just knew (and seriously hoped), he’d play a much larger part in the series. I love that he’s tied to darkness and night and dreams, not to mention all his hidden wounds and secrets. He’s book boyfriend perfection. If I say any more, I’ll start gushing and never stop, so if you haven’t read this series and fallen for Rhysand, do it. Right now.
Zsadist – J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series
I’m a sucker for a damaged hero, and Zsadist is the epitome of damaged. He’s snarly, moody, and beyond violent. He doesn’t believe he’s worthy of love, can’t accept it when it’s staring him in the face, and is need of a lifetime of healing. But when he finally caves? So worth the journey.
So that’s my incomplete list of book boyfriends, and you know there’s always more to add on, so help me out. Who’s top on your list?

Blurb Description: Grandma warned me to resist him.
I know what he is. Even if he doesn't sparkle in the sun, hiss at holy water, or go by the traditional name of vampire, I know.
He doesn't want or need my blood. He wants my dreams...more specifically, my nightmares. And I've got oodles of those, so many they leak.
He's emotionally scarred, growly, dangerous, and kindles all my senses. Love isn't on his agenda. Having him for a guardian isn't on my list of fun, either. My touch sends him into darkness.
I shouldn't want him.
I can't want him.
But I do.
If I surrender instead of escape, I'll lose everything--my sister, my will, my life. Gran forgot to tell me the most important detail of all: how am I supposed to resist him when he's everything I've ever dreamed of?
Beautifully Burned is told in a dual, third person POV, and may be read as a standalone.
C.J Burright is a native Oregonian and refuses to leave. A member of Romance Writers of America and the Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal special interest chapter, while she has worked for years in a law office, she chooses to avoid writing legal thrillers (for now) and instead invades the world of urban fantasy, paranormal romance, or fantasy. C.J. also has her 4th Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and believes a story isn’t complete without at least one fight scene. Her meager spare time is spent working out, refueling with mochas, gardening, gorging on Assassin’s Creed, and rooting on the Seattle Mariners…always with music. She shares life with her husband, daughter, and a devoted cat herd.
