Feature and Follow #4 (I'M FEATURED!)

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

1. When did you start blogging?

I started blogging eight months ago- on the 24th of March! I remember that day so clearly, because I was supposed to be studying for my physics final, but was too excited with blogger and everything bloggy to concentrate!

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

I'm going to answer this in two parts (cheating, I know, but still:P)

-- the whole array of new books I've gotten the opportunity to read- that I wouldn't have heard of or seen, due to the fact that I live in India!
-- the second is that I have the freedom to do what I want with my blog- I can write any way I feel like, play around with posts and the overall layout when I want, and just the sense that this is entirely my own (which is big, to someone who is still in school- in my country at least!)

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I mainly blog about YA books, as, well, they're awesome- and I'm a young adult! I do some NA, and some Adult, but very little.

4. What are your favorite books?

Even if someone held me at gunpoint, I could never answer this question. So, I usually go with the most recent- favourite book I've read- Blackfin Sky by Kat Ellis! P.s. It's BRILLIANT!

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

The answer is the same as my second- that I've gotten the chance to dig deeper into the world of books, with freedom to do what I want, and also, all of the AMAZING books I've won!
What books would you give to newbies in your favorite genre? (Ex. I'm a newbie to high fantasy and EVERYONE said to ease into it with the Throne of Glass series!) - Suggested by Take Me Away...

I don't really have a favorite genre, so I'm going to go with a couple:

1. Contemporary- (I'm going with all the 'classics' in the YA world here)- The Princess Diaries, or the first ever YA book I read- Teen Idol!

2. Dystopian/ Adventure- Harry Potter (but they can be overwhelming) so I'm going to have to go with The Hunger Games!

3. Conspiracy Theories- If people are REALLY into this genre, I would recommend any Dan Brown book, or any Scott Mariani book.

4. General Recommendations:
-- We Were Liars
-- The Fault In Our Stars
-- The Grisha Trilogy
-- Stolen Songbird!

Thanks for stopping by! If you leave me a comment with your link, I'll be sure to check your blog out and follow you!!

Events too unnatural – even for New Orleans – lead Adele to an attic that has been sealed for three hundred years, and the chaos she unleashes threatens not only her life but everyone she knows.
Caught suddenly in a hurricane of eighteenth-century myths and monsters, Adele must quickly untangle a web of magic that links the climbing murder rate back to her own ancestors. But who can you trust in a city where everyone has a secret, and where keeping them can be a matter of life and death – unless, that is, you’re immortal.

ALYS ARDEN grew up in the Vieux CarrĂ©, cut her teeth on the streets of New York, and has worked all around the world since. She still plans to run away with the circus one day.

Books in this series: Her Best ShotHer Winning Formula

About the Author
Shannyn is a former English teacher, who now works as a part-time editor while raising her three kids.

Even though she wrote from high school through college (mostly poetry), she’d never considered a career as an author. Writing fell by the wayside as she focused her energy on creating lesson plans and new and fabulous ways to torment her teen students. One group in particular dubbed her “The Torture Master,” a title she carried into motherhood.

After the birth of baby number two, Shannyn resigned from teaching and fell in love with reading romance novels. She read so many books so quickly that her husband teased, “If you’re going to read so many damn books, why don’t you just write one?” So she did.

Her Perfect Game was a book I wanted to read from the Get-Go! I mean, how often do you find a female hacker, who met her ex in a virtual game, but doesn't know it? And, of course, he wants her back and offer her a job, but first, he has to tell her the truth- that her new best friend is actually him.

I'll tell you- NEVER!

This was a short book, but for the first time, I didn't feel the need for it to go on any longer (like The Love Match) except, probably, for the ending- I was just expecting more there.

There isn't really much to say- except that Her Perfect Game is a really good book- short, sweet, sexy and extremely easy to get into!

Read It!

This Week's Question is:

Characters, sometimes our favorites, die during books. If you'd get to choose, who would you bring back? - Suggested byHowling for BooksCharacters I would bring back from the dead? Huh. Well, obviously- I would first bring back EVERY (good) dead character from Harry Potter- including Harry's parents and Hedwig!

If I'm feeling particularly malicious, I might even bring back everyone else too- just so J. K. Rowling can write another seven books for us!

I would also bring back Mia's brother (from Gayle Forman's If I Stay) I started crying when I read that he died.

That's pretty much it! I don't really think much about bringing characters from the dead, because, for most books, if they weren't dead- where's the story, right?

Review Blitz: True Colors and Two Faced by Melissa Pearl

True Colors & Two Faced by Melissa Pearl

Blurb Description: Caitlyn Davis always

cruised through life, not being the type to ruffle feathers or involve herself in high school drama. That is, until a chance encounter with a strange, homeless man changes everything.

Suddenly, Caitlyn has the ability to see behind people's masks. She discovers that her life isn’t as simple as she imagined and high school is filled with secrets...some very sinister ones.

Unable to ignore her new gift, Caitlyn embarks on a mission to learn why one of her friends suddenly appears terrified, but masks her fear with a bright, smiling veneer. Will Caitlyn's new ability lead her into hot water? Or is her new found vision a blessing that will expose her friends' true colors?

Her quest will lead Caitlyn to lose friends, stand up for those in need, and even find love.

At Palisades High School every face tells a story...

*** Amazon ***  B&N *** Smashwords *** Kobo

First things first, I absolutely LOVE the synopsis. I mean, literally everyone has dual intentions for the things that they do- I know I do- now and then!

Sometimes these things are meant to hurt you, others are to protect you, but whatever it is, you still need to know who and why. (If that makes any sense!)
And, that's where Caitlyn Davis comes in. In a freak incident involving a homeless man, Caitlyn finds herself able to rip the 'masks' off of people's faces, showing her who they really are and what they're really feeling. Which, as you might know, is not the best superpower to have in High-School, where most people are only really looking out for themselves.

Dumping her best friend and her boyfriend after seeing who they really are, she meets Eric, her neighbor. He's the one person whose face doesn't have a second side to it...

"Every time I had the chance to talk to you, someone else would show up... That blonde friend of yours who mentally undresses me every chance she gets. The one who's always trying to force you into being someone you're not...
Or that idiot boyfriend with his arrogant strut who never looks at your beautiful face, always your body."

ERIC! Holy God! After that dialogue, I don't think I have to explain more!

With Eric's help, she finally learns to embrace her ability- and comes across something very sinister going on at school- including blackmail, extortion and cheating.

All in all, a book worth reading:)

Blurb Description: Caitlyn Davis has an unusual gift. She knows exactly how people feel. Everyone wears a mask, but she sees the hidden truth. This ability has changed her life, both for the better
and worse. She can choose to ignore what she sees...but what happens when it involves the guy she loves?

Eric Shore knew getting involved with a girl who could read people was risky, but he couldn't help himself. Caitlyn is gorgeous and he loves being with her. Their relationship is going great...until she tells him that his step-brother and
star basketball player, Connor, is doing drugs. Having looked up to the guy for years, Eric just can't buy it. Things only get worse when Caitlyn questions the true nature of Eric's favorite teacher.

The first year at college is supposed to be amazing, but theirs is off to a rocky start. As masks are peeled away, secrets will be exposed, dangers will be revealed, and both must decide out of the people closest to them, who is telling the truth...and who is being two-faced.

Smashwords: http://ow.ly/CCjAw
iBooks: http://bit.ly/2FITunes

Continuing from where True Colors finished off (although this can be read as a stand alone...) Two Faced takes on Caitlyn's first year at UCLA, with Eric!

College is supposed to be the time of your life, right? But for this happy (or shall we say not so happy) couple, it simply isn't.

With Caitlyn's mask- reading abilities showing her things that Eric doesn't want to see- about his step brother, and his favorite professor- things that look extremely dangerous, should she just lie, both to Eric and herself, and oretnd that nothing is happening, or should she figure it out by herself, and hope that her first love will still be there waiting at the end?

I LOVED the entire series- but I would've loved it even more if there was more about Caitlyn's family and Eric's family instead of just the two of them.

Melissa Pearl was born in Auckland, New Zealand, but has spent much of her life abroad, living in countries such as Jordan, Cyprus and Pakistan... not to mention a nine month
road trip around North America with her husband. "Best. Year. Ever!!"

She now lives in China with her husband and two sons. She is a trained elementary teacher, but writing is her passion. Since becoming a full time mother she has had the opportunity to pursue this dream and her debut novel hit the internet in November 2011. Since then she has continued to produce a steady stream of books. Recently she signed with Evatopia Press and her first Evatopia book was released in February 2014 - True Colors, The Masks Series #1. She is very excited to be trying out new things this year while continuing to publish under her own name as well. She has six books releasing in 2014 and is excited
about writing each and every one of them.

BOOK BLAST: Loop by Karen Akins

Author: Karen Akins
Release Date: October 21, 2014
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Blurb Description: At a school where Quantum Paradox 101 is a required course and history field trips are literal, sixteen year-old time traveler Bree Bennis excels…at screwing up.

After Bree botches a solo midterm to the 21st century by accidentally taking a boy hostage (a teensy snafu), she stands to lose her scholarship. But when Bree sneaks back to talk the kid into keeping his yap shut, she doesn’t go back far enough. The boy, Finn, now three years older and hot as a solar flare, is convinced he’s in love with Bree, or rather, a future version of her that doesn’t think he’s a complete pain in the arse. To make matters worse, she inadvertently transports him back to the 23rd century with her.

Once home, Bree discovers that a recent rash of accidents at her school are anything but accidental. Someone is attacking time travelers. As Bree and her temporal tagalong uncover seemingly unconnected clues—a broken bracelet, a missing data file, the art heist of the millennium—that lead to the person responsible, she alone has the knowledge to piece the puzzle together. Knowledge only one other person has. Her future self.

But when those closest to her become the next victims, Bree realizes the attacker is willing to do anything to stop her. In the past, present, or future.

I've always loved books about Angels- may they be good, bad, fallen or righteous. I mean, beautiful, winged, immortal creatures? How can you possibly NOT love them?

Ember pulls you in pretty quickly, with Ann Hopkins's explosive and mystery filled writing, taking you from the streets of Ohio to the haunted mountains of Tennessee, from perverts to paranormal revelations! And you know, this is just the first eighty in the 400 or so page book.

Oh, and EMBER? Like the dying Embers of a fire, the name of a girl whose soul is part fire? A girl who can survive the hottest fires, along with starting and extinguishing her own? AWESOME! Not to mention that she's a descendant of the Fallen Angels, a 'Watcher' of the highest rank.

I guess I've been talking loads about Angels, but that's not a genre preferred my many- so, I can honestly say, that even though I'm an angel fan, these angels and the way they are portrayed are SO different, and ANYONE will absolutely LOVE it!

Before I give away something I shouldn't give away in all my excitement, I'm going to end with- THAT ENDING. HOLY GOD.

My Verdict:

For Fans of the Paranormal Genre- and for the haters as well- Ember is a one of a kind book!
