Anyway, Janet is with us talking about Audiobooks, and is giving away TWO BEAUTIFUL Audible audiobooks. So Have fun, and mey the odds be ever in your favour.
I’m Janet B. Taylor, author of INTO THE DIM.
Today, thanks to the wonderful Aditi Nichani, I’m taking over A Thousand Words A Million Books! No, it’s not a hostile takeover. At least I hope not! Aditi was kind enough to invite me to share some of my thoughts for her AWESOME Blogaversary!! WOOHOO!!
We all talk a lot about books, and (obvi) I am a total and utter book MONSTER! There’s nothing in the world as beautiful as the smell of a library, or the scent of a brand-new book, hot off the shelves. But for several years now…
Well, I’m just going to admit it:
Hi, I’m Janet, and I’m an AudioBook addict.
See, my hubby and I commute to work together every day, and let me tell you that we don’t even open the car door unless we have an audiobook queued up.
So, when I learned that Into The Dim was going to be an audiobook, I have to admit, I went bat-crap-crazy!!
Aaaand…I was fortunate enough to be involved in selecting the narrator. They actually picked my VERY favorite, Amanda Ronconi! Amanda had done a lot of the fantastic Molly Harper’s adult novels, but only a few YA. The day she called me, excited about narrating ITD, and gave me a sample of some of the accents and voices…I was blown away, ya’ll. BLOWN.
One thing about reading is that we sometimes tend to skim certain parts. We don’t mean to, but we’re so hungry to find out what happens, that we miss beautiful sentences or incredible hints or a lovely description. That doesn’t happen with audiobooks. They are comprehensive and intimate and when you get the right narrator paired with the right book it can propel you into another world faster than anything else.
So today, instead of a hardback copy, I thought I would give away a download of the Audible Audiobook version of Into The Dim.
If you’ve never tried an audiobook before, I hope this changes your mind. I hope the incredibly-talented narrators who work so hard to bring our characters to life are granted a lifetime supply of daily cupcake deliveries!
Hope you guys enjoy! And please keep on reading (and listening), because as we all know…
Books are air.
Books are water and food.
Janet B. Taylor lives in such a small town in Arkansas that if you happen to sneeze when you pass by, you'll totally miss it. (Cause, you know, you can't sneeze with your eyes open. For real-try it-it's impossible.) She lives with her Prince Charming, their two hilarious sons, and Dorda the diabetic dog who won't win any beauty contests, but has a "really nice personality".
Janet's debut, INTO THE DIM (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) is a YA Adventure/Time Travel out now, with the sequel to arrive Spring 2017.
"Instantly engaging, constantly suspenseful, ultimately poignant and satisfying. Loved it!"--Diana Gabaldon, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Outlander series
When fragile, sixteen-year-old Hope Walton loses her mom to an earthquake overseas, her secluded world crumbles. Agreeing to spend the summer in Scotland, Hope discovers that her mother was more than a brilliant academic, but also a member of a secret society of time travelers. And she's alive, though currently trapped in the twelfth century, during the age of Eleanor of Aquitaine. Hope has seventy-two hours to rescue her mother and get back to their own time. Passing through the Dim, Hope enters a brutal medieval world of political intrigue, danger, and violence. A place where any serious interference could alter the very course of history. And when she meets a boy whose face is impossibly familiar, she must decide between her mission and her heart—both of which could leave Hope trapped in the past forever.
Addictive, romantic, and rich with historical detail, Into the Dim is an Outlander for teens.
